EPISODE 7
This change did not happen suddenly.
It was a slow shift something subtle enough to ignore at first, but impossible to ignore over time.
He began to feel that his thoughts were no longer as clear and linear as before.
Sometimes he would make a decision instantly, only to realize later that he could not fully recall the process behind it.
It felt as if the thinking itself was skipping steps.
At first, he dismissed it as stress or mental fatigue, but the pattern kept repeating.
And that is what made him uneasy.
There were moments when he would suddenly pause and feel as if his mind had moved one step ahead of him, leaving him behind to catch up.
Gradually, he began to notice something strange.
His thoughts were not operating on a single layer.
Some thoughts were clear and immediate, some were deeper and harder to grasp, and others felt as if they existed just below his conscious awareness.
One evening, while sitting in complete silence, he experienced something unusual.
A thought appeared in his mind… but there was no sense of where it came from.
It felt as if it had already existed and simply surfaced at that moment.
This was not an ordinary thought.
It felt structured, deliberate, and strangely familiar.
He did not react immediately, but something inside him registered that this was not normal.
A question began to form in his mind:
If thoughts can appear on their own… then who is truly the one thinking them?
The question did not leave him.
The more he tried to ignore it, the more it stayed in the background of his awareness.
As if something within him had quietly taken a place and refused to leave.
That night, he noticed something else.
Silence no longer felt empty.
It felt occupied.. as if something was present within it, observing him as he observed himself.
It was not frightening, but it was deeply unusual.
And for the first time, he considered a possibility he could not easily dismiss:
Perhaps consciousness is not just the act of thinking…
But also the act of being observed.
And if that is true……
Then what happens when observation begins to observe back?
