EPISODE 5
There was no sound left to define silence.
It wasn’t quiet. It was as if the idea of sound itself had been erased.
David couldn’t tell whether he was standing, falling, or suspended between both states. His awareness kept breaking into unstable fragments, like reality was struggling to render him correctly.
Then light returned.
Not fully. Just enough to reveal shapes.
Long corridors stretched in impossible directions. Walls didn’t behave like physical matter. They shifted slightly every time he tried to focus on them, as if observation itself was changing their structure.
David took a step forward.
The movement reached him late.
A strange delay existed between intention and reality, as though the world was processing his existence in slow confirmation.
Behind him, something familiar appeared again.
The feeling of pages turning.
But there was no book in his hands.
Only the echo of it.
And that echo felt heavier than anything real.
A message surfaced in his awareness:
TRANSFER COMPLETE.
David froze.
The words weren,t seen or heard they were understood, directly placed into his mind.
His hands trembled slightly. But even that felt unstable. as if his body was not fully committed to staying in one form.
In front of him, something moved.
A shape that was not human, not animal, not even properly physical. It existed like a mistake in perception.
And yet, it was aware of him.
You have arrived, it said.
The voice was not sound. It was meaning forming itself into language.
David tried to respond, but his thoughts scattered before becoming speech.
The entity tilted slightly, almost like it was studying him.
You still think there was a room, it continued.
The corridors around them reacted.
Straight lines bent without breaking. Doors appeared briefly in empty walls, then vanished before they could be understood.
The environment felt alive not in a biological sense, but in a way that suggested awareness without form.
The entity stepped closer.
And for the first time, David saw what it truly was.
Inside its presence were layers of repeated existence.
Versions.
Not of different beings but of him.
Sitting.
Reading.
Failing.
Accepting.
Endless cycles of the same moment repeated in different outcomes, like experiments running in parallel.
You were never the first attempt, the voice said calmly.
And you will not be the last.
Something inside David collapsed but not like pain.
Like realization snapping into place.
The book was not an object.
It was a mechanism.
A system designed to select awareness.
And he had already been processed by it.
The corridors went still.
Even the unstable geometry paused, as if waiting for instruction.
Then the entity moved aside.
Behind it, something opened.
Not a door.
Not a passage.
More like an adjustment in reality itself.
A correction preparing the next sequence.
A final message formed in his mind:
David tried to resist but there was nothing stable left to resist with.
Only continuation remained.
And somewhere beyond this fractured space, another consciousness quietly prepared to open its eyes.. unaware that it was about to find the book.
