David Mind-Bending Horror

EPISODE 9

THE CORRIDOR BETWEEN

Elias did not sleep.

Every time his eyes closed, fragments returned.

Frozen streets beneath broken skies.

Dark oceans without shores.

Endless versions of himself dying in places no human mind should remember.

And always

The book waiting nearby.

By morning, the headache had faded slightly.

But something worse remained.

He could no longer trust which memories belonged to him.

The house felt colder than usual.

Silent.

Unnaturally silent.

Elias walked into the kitchen slowly.

His mother stood near the sink, staring out at the rain.

For a moment, relief flooded through him.

Mom?

She turned toward him.

And his chest tightened instantly.

Her face looked normal.

Perfectly normal.

But something about her expression felt delayed.

As if she had copied the reaction a second too late.

You’re awake, she said softly.

Elias hesitated.

Are you okay?

His mother smiled carefully.

Yes.

Too carefully.

The silence stretched between them.

Then

You shouldn’t keep reading that book.

Elias froze.

I never told you about the book.

For the first time, her expression changed.

Not fear.

Recognition.

Like she had made a mistake.

Outside, thunder shook the windows.

The kitchen lights flickered violently.

And for one impossible second

His mother’s shadow moved differently from her body.

Elias stumbled backward.

The shadow remained still while she stepped forward.

Then reality snapped back into place.

Everything normal again.

Elias? she whispered.

But he was already backing away.

His breathing became uneven.

The pressure behind his eyes returned stronger than before.

And suddenly

The hallway appeared again.

Not fully.

Partially.

As if another place overlapped this one.

The walls stretched into darkness.

Doors appeared where none should exist.

Long black corridors extending endlessly in both directions.

Dim lights flickered overhead.

And far away

Shapes moved slowly between the doors.

Not human.

Watching.

Waiting.

Elias grabbed the wall before collapsing.

The vision faded instantly.

But this time

Something remained in his hand.

A small metal key.

Cold to the touch.

His pulse stopped.

The key had not existed before.

He knew that with absolute certainty.

A whisper echoed faintly inside his mind.

THE DOOR IS BEGINNING TO OPEN.

Elias looked toward the living room.

The book now rested on the table again.

Open.

Waiting for him.

He approached carefully.

New words formed slowly across the page.

YOU HAVE SEEN THE CORRIDOR.

NOW THE CORRIDOR SEES YOU.

The candle flame beside the book suddenly bent sideways unnaturally.

As though air itself had shifted direction.

Another sentence appeared.

DO NOT TRUST THE COPIES.

Elias stared at the words.

Copies?

A floorboard creaked upstairs.

Heavy.

Slow.

His mother was still standing in the kitchen behind him.

Which meant

Someone else was upstairs.

The footsteps continued.

One step at a time.

Deliberate.

Patient.

Elias felt terror crawl through his chest.

Then came the voice.

His own voice.

Softly echoing from the second floor.

Elias…

A pause.

Don’t let it find you again.

The lights died instantly.

Darkness swallowed the house.

And somewhere above him

Something began running.
